Image Description

Invasive apocrine carcinoma with high nuclear grade. The nuclei are pleomorphic with prominent nucleoli. Some nuclei are deeply basophilic with smudged chromatin. Binucleation is also seen. The tumor cells have voluminous pale granular cytoplasm with vacuoles. The cytoplasmic borders are well-defined.

The clinical course and prognosis of in-situ as well as invasive apocrine carcinoma appears to be similar to non-apocrine mammary carcinomas. No significant differences have been found in survival between the two groups after mastectomy.
