Image Description

Lactating adenoma is a focus of hyperplasia seen in breasts during pregnancy or puerperial period. It presents as freely mobile, solitary or multiple breast masses. It can also develop in ectopic breast tissue in locations such as axilla, chest wall, or vulva.

This low-power image shows enlarged lobules containing markedly increased number of glands. The patient was a 32 year old pregnant woman who presented with bilateral breast masses.
