Comments:
The mesothelial lining in some cases may show reactive proliferative changes that may look worrisome enough for malignancy. Multicystic benign mesotheliomas are probably not true neoplasms and are best considered as peritoneal inclusion cysts that arise in response to a stimulus. The continued presence of the inciting agent and difficulty in excising them completely are responsible for their frequent recurrences after surgery.
