Comments:
Immunohistochemical Profile: Dysgerminomas show strong cytoplasmic and membranous staining for PLAP, CD117 (c-kit), SALL4 (nuclear staining), and OCT3/4 (nuclear staining). Less specific positive markers include vimentin, D2-40 (podoplanin), and NSE. Syncytiotrophoblastic elements, when present, show cytoplasmic immunoreactivity with hCG.

Both OCT3/4 and SALL4 show overalapping immunoreactivity in other ovarian malignant germ cell tumors as well. With cytokeratin, there is patchy dot-like or membrane staining in 30% of cases. Dysgerminomas are negative for CD30, EMA, CEA, S-100 protein, CD45, glypican-3, and AFP.
