Image Description

Microscopic Features: Lipomas are composed of mature fat cells arranged in lobules and surrounded by a thin capsule. They resemble surrounding normal fat but the cells vary in size and shape and are larger than normal adipocytes. There is no nuclear hyperchromasia. A delicate vascular network is present. This appearance may be altered by the presence of other mesenchymal elements or by fat necrosis.
