Dyshormonogenetic Goiter

Comments:
Fibrosis is a common finding in dyshormonogenetic goiter. The fibrous bands encapsulate individual nodules and extend within the nodules to surround individual abnormal follicles (as shown here). Irregular bands of fibrosis at the edge of nodules can mimic capsular invasion. This feature, in conjunction with the cytologic atypia seen in dyshormonogenetic goiters, can lead to the mistaken diagnosis of malignancy.
