Comments:
Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) with rhabdoid features metastatic to the liver in a 60 year old man with a 2 year history of perforated GIST of the cecum. He received Gleevec (Imatinib) with primary resistance to the therapy. He developed multiple tumor metastases to the intercostal muscles, diaphragm and liver.

CD117 and DOG1 (shown here) were positive. This tumor had malignant features such as large size, necrosis and a high mitotic rate, indicating an aggressive clinical course. Case Courtesy of: Dr. Osama Elfituri, Dept. of Pathology, University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL.
