Comments:
FLC tumor cells have large nuclei with prominent nucleoli and abundant eosinophilic granular cytoplasm. As in conventional HCC, there may be acinar structures, bile production, multinucleated tumor cells, and fat (as seen here). FLC tumor cells also commonly contain hyaline eosinophilic d-PAS+ globules (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, alpha-1 antitrypsin) and "pale bodies" (fibrinogen, albumin). The cellular pleomorphism is characteristic of hepatocellular malignancies.
