Comments:
Both primary (AL) or secondary (AA) amyloidosis can result in hepatic amyloid deposition. Both initially manifest with amyloid deposition in portal vessels (as seen here) and hepatic sinusoids, leading to hepatocyte atrophy. The abundant amorphous, acellular, eosinophilic amyloid deposits can be confirmed by apple green birefringence on Congo Red staining with polarized microscopy.
