Comments:
This prostate biopsy is from a 32 y/o male with history of Wegener Granulomatosis (biopsy proven in lung) who presented with symptoms of acute prostatitis. Digital rectal exam revealed a firm, tender prostate. After a course of antibiotics, he underwent needle biopsies which showed multifocal necrotizing granulomas. Special stains for acid-fast bacilli and fungal organisms were negative. The histologic findings are consistent with Wegener granulomatosis involving prostate.
