Comments:
This specimen of lactating adenoma was removed from a 22 y/o post-partum female who presented with a painless, well-circumscribed mass in upper outer quadrant of her left breast. The patient had been breast-feeding her baby for the last 8 months. The cut surface shows fleshy, solid areas as well as small cysts which are filled with yellow-white milky secretion. Microscopically, the lesion was composed of compact lobules showing secretory activity. Apical cytoplasmic blebs and fraying of the luminal borders of the cells were also present. Case courtesy of: Dr. Sanjay D. Deshmukh, Professor of Pathology, Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pune, India.
