Comments:
Prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a type II membrane glycoprotein which is expressed in benign and malignant prostate. It is also expressed at low levels in brain, small intestine, kidney, liver, spleen, and salivary glands. The staining intensity is greater in malignant prostate as compared to the benign glands. PSMA expression correlates with the Gleason grade and tumor stage and it appears to be an independent predictor of tumor recurrence.
