Comments:
With time, the cellular nodular infiltrates of pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) heal by fibrosis that starts in the center and extends outwards. There is associated peripheral scar emphysema (traction emphysema). Langerhans cells and eosinophils become scarce or disappear in the fibrotic stages and LCH cannot be easily distinguished from other fibrosing cystic diseases of lung at this stage.
