Comments:
The image shows basal cell hyperplasia in a transurethral resection specimen from a 70 y/o male with enlarged prostate. Transition zone is the most common location for lesions involving basal cells and TURP is the specimen type where they are most frequently detected. The lesion here consists of small tubules and glands with basaloid appearance. A few normal prostate glands can be seen on the upper left.
