Mucinous Carcinoma of Breast : Prognosis

Clusters of well-differentiated tumor cells floating in pools of mucin. Mucinous carcinomas show lower frequency of axillary nodal metastases and carry an excellent short-term prognosis, especially if the tumor is less than 3 cm in size. However, the tumor may recur several years after initial therapy necessitating long-term follow-up.
