Comments:
This 36 y/o visitor from the Middle-East presented with gross hematuria and was found to have multiple reddish lesions in his bladder on cystoscopy. Biopsy showed eosinophilic cystitis and several encrusted eggs of Schistosoma hematobium - a trematode that resides in the vesical venous plexuses. Entrapment of the parasite eggs within the walls of bladder or other viscera incites a granulomatous response with eventual destruction or calcification of the eggs.
