Comments:
Treatment of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) of Bone: Isolated bone lesions in single system LCH are treated by local excision or curettage. In single system LCH with multifocal bone lesions, hydroxyurea with or without methotrexate or bisphosphonates has been used. However, patients are more likely to receive multiagent systemic chemotherapy similar to that used for multisystem disseminated LCH. Treatment of jaw lesions is discussed here. Localized bone lesions may also regress spontaneously.

The image shows higher magnification view from a case of Langerhans cell histiocytosis of bone. There is dense infiltrate of Langerhans cells and eosinophils eroding through the bone.
