Comments:
High-power view of a small lymphocytic lymphoma involving a lymph node. The lymphocytes have scant cytoplasm, clumped chromatin, and inconspicuous nucleoli. Mitotic activity is not increased. About 5% of cases of small lymphocytic lymphoma may progress to more aggressive variants such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, classical Hodgkin lymphoma or even peripheral T-cell lymphoma. This is referred to as Richter syndrome.
