Comments:
This MRI is from an adult patient who presented with increasing headaches. It demonstrates a large mass in the superior part of the right temporal lobe exerting a significant mass effect. This MRI was taken post-contrast and shows a necrotic center surrounded by an irregular ring of contrast enhancement. The radiologic features are most consistent with a high grade (WHO grade IV) primary glial tumour. The differential would include a solitary metastasis, or less likely a cerebral abscess. Following biopsy this was confirmed to be a glioblastoma. Case produced with permission, courtesy of Dr. Frank Gaillard. Radiopaedia. Complete case is here.
