This low-power scan of the glass slide nicely illustrates the small and large cysts separated by thin fibrous septa. The cysts have smooth inner walls and do not communicate with the renal pelvis. The fibrous stroma in the septa may occasionally contain skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, or cartilage. The cysts are lined by tubular epithelium which may range from low-columnar to cuboidal to flat.
