Low magnification view showing numerous papillae. Foamy macrophages are absent in the papille; however, this feature of papillary renal cell carcinoma is not required for the diagnosis. Note the nuclei are small, have open chromatin and indistinct nucleoli typical of type 1 papillary renal cell carcinoma.
