Comments:
About 70% of genital melanomas in female involve labia majora and minora. They occur mainly in older women. The tumor cells in this image show considerable cytologic atypia and melanocytic differentiation with abundant melanin. Important prognostic indicators include thickness (Breslow) of invasion, presence or absence of ulceration, and DNA ploidy.   return to Pigmented Lesions
