Rhabdomyosarcomas of genitourinary tract and retroperitoneum sometimes show foci of cartilaginous or osseous differentiation.

Here is an example of cartilagenous differentiation in botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma. Islands of immature cartilage are present in a background of relatively hypocellular tumor composed of small primitive round, stellate or spindle cells.
