Epithelioid Fibrous Histiocytoma

Topic: Fibrous Histiocytoma

Category: Fibrohistiocytic

slide 6 of 8

Comments:
The epithelioid cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm are intermixed with foamy histiocytes in this image from an epithelioid fibrous histiocytoma. Cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas pursue a benign clinical course and show a recurrence rate between 5% to 10% following conservative resection. Deep-seated lesions recur more often. Rare benign cases have resulted in pulmonary metastases.   return to Fibrous Histiocytoma
