This photograph shows a giant superficial lipoma on the upper back of a 65 y/o male. It was a soft to firm pedunculated mass attached to the lower portion of the neck posteriorly. It was slow growing and had attained this size (30 x 20 x 15 cm) over the course of 20+ years. Ultrasound examination revealed a sharply contoured, homogenous mass isoechoic with subcutaneous fat. Doppler studies did not reveal vasularity in the mass. Microscopic examination showed a typical lipoma. Image courtesy of: Dr. Sanjay D.
