Comments:
Higher power view of the previous image shows bland spindle nuclei arranged in sheets punctuated by small cystic spaces. Type A thymoma is generally considered to be a benign tumor with excellent prognosis. Five and 10-year survival rates are almost 100% with little or no risk of recurrence if completely resected. Rare cases of recurrence and distant metastases have been documented. Cases of thymic carcinoma arising in a background of type A thymoma have also been reported.   return to Thymoma : Type A (Spindle Cell Type)
