Comments:
This focus shows an abundance of lipid-laden macrophages. Treatment of PVNS is by total synovectomy; however, recurrences occur in about 20% to 40% of cases due to incomplete excision. Recurrent lesions may be treated by radiation. Rare malignant cases of PVNS have been reported.
