Comments:
This case of basal cell carcinoma was diagnosed on a prostate needle biopsy and resulted in a radical prostatectomy. The tumor is composed of solid nests, nests with lumina, and anastomosing cords. There is strong desmoplastic stromal response seen as lighter colored areas around the tumor. This feature is quite helpful in distinction of basal cell carcinomas from basal cell hyperplasia.
