Comments:
There is a deeply infiltrating large ulcerated lesion at the gastroesophageal junction (esophageal mucosa is at the top). Sections revealed signet ring cell carcinoma. The fungating, necrotic, polypoid tumors projecting into the stomach lumen generally tend to be intestinal subtype, where as deeply infiltrating cancers causing diffuse thickening of the stomach wall tend to be signet ring cell subtype.
