Comments:
Ameloblastomas display a wide variety of architectural patterns under the microscope, including follicular, plexiform, acanthomatous, basaloid, granular cell, and desmoplastic. Multiple patterns often coexist and they have no clinical significance.

Acanthomatous type shows extensive squamous metaplasia with keratin formation within the stellate reticulum in the central portion of the epithelial islands. Such cases must be differentiated from squamous odontogenic tumor as well as squamous cell carcinoma.
